SynthPoP For The Masses

TOC

1999 (1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4)

THE NINE - Native Anger

Another successful release by the American Synthlabel and distributor A Different Drum. It seems that Todd Durrant has a nose for good music from all over the world. They realized elaborated compositions with a little eighties spirit, including a lot of terrific acid sound sculptures and trendy bass drums.Such as Mesh the Nine are from UK. The vocals are really close to their compatriots but unfortunately they do not sound so melodic - I mean their music is too sterile and straight.

FORBIDDEN COLOURS - Deification

It took a long time until Forbidden Colours were able to release their debut album. Their songs "My Broken Heart", "Adore" and "Heavenly apparition" disappeared on several SynthPoP compilations long before this release. They make use of classic Synth in combination with techno elements to give their music a modern touch. It is a very danceable album with a lot of smash hits and catchy tunes.

EDENFELD - New Horizon

Edenfeld's second album includes more classic synth-elements than their previous release "Evolution". But that does not mean that they try to go back to the eighties roots. On the contrary they released a varied album with very sensitive and intelligent compositions that is far better than "Evolution".

MESH - The Point At Which It Falls Apart

Mesh's fourth album convince with varied and powerful compositions. With this album they show us how to make use of guitars in combination with Synth without give them special emphasis. I mean that it is not necessary to overload compositions with guitars or drums (often played by guest artists) to make modern music and call it "Progressive PoP" as De/vision did!!! This album intensify their revolutionary synth-style that consists of thorough composed melodies and dynamic drums. In my opinion it is simply the best modern synth-band so far.

Just buy all their single releases as those always inlcude excellent remixes!!!
