SynthPoP For The Masses

SIMULATOR - Simulator

Simulator represents instrumental SynthPoP that is heavy influenced from Depeche Mode (Black Celebration). While first track 'Dark Horizon' sounds very simple and the architecture is clumsy the next songs ('Revelation', 'Regression', 'Division' and 'Moments Away') can convince with catchy melodies and deep atmospheres. I sometimes got the feeling listening to music by Jean Michel Jarre (Oxygen). I have to say that I like the instrumentals but what I miss most is singing. My absolute favorite is 'Revelation'.

Simulator is a highly recommended CD for people who like minimalistic electronic instrumentals.

RESISTANCE D - A Modern World Of Today

With the single 'You Were There' Resistance D was very successful in Germany. That was the reason why I decided to order this album. For the first time when listening to the album I was a little bit disappointed as the album does not correspond with 'You Were There" . Maybe it also depended on my new experience with club music.
After some loops I liked the album more and more. I have to say that Resistance D understand to create clever club music that consists of intelligent arrangements. The album includes two remixes of 'Your Were There' (ocean drive mixes) and an extended vocal mix of the Hit-Single 'Impression' which are my favorites.

If you like excellent club music - do not hesitate - by it!!!

HUMAN LEAGUE - All I Ever Wanted (CD-Single)

Human League are back with a single that delivers all what a fan expects of Human League - Eighties synths, relevant melodies that are freshened up with modern drums. The 'B-Side' 'Tranqulity' and the remixes cannot convince. The remix totally alienates the song, as new melodies were added and the singing was passed through effect filters. The Single comes with a MacroMedia Video of 'All I Ever Wanted'.

DE/VISION - Two

With "Two" De/vision found back to their roots of melancholic electronic music. Their previous release "Void " was not able to convince me and many De/vision fans got disappointed. But on the other hand De/vision won lots of new "disciples". Well, back to the new Release. "Two" sounds more electronic and De/vision used lots of conventional synthetic sounds to compose sensitive melodies based on well done structures with catchy refrains.
Ballades dominate the new album but there exist also some playful and danceable songs like "Silent Moan" and "Blindness". These songs perfectly go well with the concept of "Two" and prevent it for being boring or being overloaded by ballades. I am really enjoying to notice melodic melodies (synthetic strings, piano playing, a.o.) in the background which I missed on "Void". Guitar playing was only used for adorning the synthetic melodies but does not come to the fore. Well, on the whole "Two" was able to convince me all along the line.
My absolute favorites are "Silent Moan", "Drowing Soul" and "Lonely Day".
