FAITH ASSEMBLY - Ghosts I Have Been

With "Ghosts I Have Been" Face Assembly go on from the previous release "My Mortal Beloved" as he used the same concept and same definition of romantic music. But I really was a little bit disappointed, as the songs got overloaded by guitar or synthetic melodies. I sometimes found no logic in some uncoordinated melodies / effects in the background. I think that is the reason why I really had some problems to locate Marc's singing and that gives me the feeling of restless melodies.

SEVEN WORDS - A Flawed Paradigm

A "Flawed Paradigm" by SEVEN WORDS is one of the most interesting releases of the new English SynthPoP Label "Hand Held Halo Production".
P. Adams knew how to combine well composed romantic electronic melodies with guitar-playing in the background and good singing. The beats perfectly harmonize with the melodies and singing. The whole music sounds warm and builds up an familiar and deep atmosphere.

Just close your eyes and enjoy the large-scale romantic compositions of SEVEN WORDS.

NEW CONCEPT - Wheel Of Love

This debut album of NEW Concept is a mixture of SynthPoP and Dance-Pop and consists of some romantic and some danceable tracks. New Concept made use of custom sounds and beats and did not try to experiment with new effects or sounds. "Wheel of Love" does not offer new ideas but the results are relevant and playful melodies combined with excellent singing which are easy to remember and ideal for dance-floor (f.e. "Why don't you believe me?"). On the album you will find a cover-version of "Never Never" which was originally performed by THE ASSEMBLY in 1982. On the whole this album became one of my favorites as it represents relevant 80s influenced and excellent arranged Dance-Pop.

VACUUM - Culture Of Night

"Culture Of Night" is the third album by the Swedish band Vacuum that convince with varied songs and new ideas concerning eighties influenced SynthPoP. It was released after Alexander Bard (Ex-Army Of Lovers) left the band and consists of some re-recorded songs from their previous two albums and three new ones. Unfortunately it does not include the Swedish hit-number 'I Breathe'. Most of the songs are melancholic and spread a warm atmosphere. They made use auf electronic strings and guitar-playing to give the melodies a non-synthetic character. What I mean is, that the songs does not sound electronic. The sound engineer did a quite good job as he understand how to mix up the different sounds to a compact composition. Some chorus in the background, just like in "Let The Mountain Come To Me" let the songs sound like Hymns.

It's really a great album that has the chance to attract attention to each listener who likes romantic SynthPoP.
