n.ever.endless - Moments
Moments - n.ever.endless second album starts with an
introduction that tries to build a bridge to their
debut album. The whole album sounds very similar to
their previous one. What I mean is that I did not
find any new ideas and it seems that n.ever.endless
did not want to experiment with new sounds and
styles. As I liked their debut album I also like
this one, but I miss a little bit more creativity. I
am sure that People how know their debut album will
get bored after the third song "Infant School
(Life part one)".
I
like the very dancy versions of "Infant
School", "Chains Of Time",
"Moments", "A Star Is Falling Down
Tonight", the DM cover version "Little
15" and the romantic song "I'll Never Let
You Go". I also have to point out the singer's
clear and reassuring voice which is unique in the
SynthPoP scene.

HELIOS - Virtually Tempted
This
debut album by Helios consists of seven old songs
that come from their self-made E.P. "Dawn"
which they produced in February 1999 and which they self distributed.
When the label "Himmelpforten" got
interested in Helios they had to produce 6 further
songs (f.e. "My Universe",
"Tempted", "Let If Flow",
...).
The
whole albums sounds very melancholic and in my
opinion too many slow songs are dominating. Only
"Not In You Anymore" and "Platonisch
Virtuell" are for dancing. What I like most is
the singers voice and the sophisticated synth-arrangements. It is not really an album for
dancing but it is a very good choice for people you
like to enjoy restful SynthPoP.

Liberté - Out Of Silence (demo)
"Out of Silence" is Liberté's first self produced
long-play CD that was finished in June 1999. It
consists of 10 tracks and is a successful
combination of dark-wave, danceable and slow
melancholic songs. Songs like "Lonely
Soldier" or "Your Spell" remind me of
the early "The Invincible Spirit".
Especially Karsten Vedder's voice gives their faster
songs a special dark touch. All of the slow songs
are sang by Ines Huebner who has a gentle voice that
is in contrast to Karstens.
On the whole I have
to recommend this album to all who like dark
SynthPoP.

Floating Point - Love And Pain (demo)
Floating Point's
first demo is a real long-player as it includes 16
tracks with about 71 minutes of classic SynthPoP.
Claudia and Joerg take turns in singing. Most of the
songs are well composed but do not deliver any new
ideas. It seems that Floating Point tries to orient
to well-tried German SynthPoP of the early 90s that
consists of relevant melodies and melancholic
singing. I am very happy about this as it is hard to
find a SynthPoP newcomer who decided to produce real
classic German SynthPoP.
I have to recommend
this album to all people who like German styled
SynthPoP of the 90s.
